lockscreen trouble

    Running Miui 1.7.1 on my HTC EVO
    Only very few lockscreens work for me when applied, whether downloaded from the themes section on my phone or downloaded on my comp and imported.
    Most lockscreens (and some themes) say they are successfully applied but
    then the lockscreen is just the default miui dropdown lockscreen.
    What am I doing wrong that I cannot use some of these really cool other lockscreens?
